To revisit the revolutionary history and experience the red culture, on May 22, the Women Workers’ Committee of the Trade Union of Xiangtan Electrochemical Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) organized all female worker committee members to take a hiking tour through the Shaoshan Irrigation District, conducting a unique and engaging educational activity on revolutionary traditions.
The route for this “Red Journey” is the Classic Red Route, which stretches from a section of the Right Main Canal to Yintian and culminates at the Shaoshan Irrigation District Exhibition Hall—totaling approximately 9 kilometers. Along the way, everyone pressed forward with great effort, challenging themselves and experiencing firsthand the strong will and hard-working spirit of our forefathers. After nearly two hours of walking, all the female union committee members successfully reached the finish line. Under the guide’s expert explanations, everyone carefully toured the Shaoshan Irrigation District Exhibition Hall. Through viewing the precious photographs, historical documents, and authentic artifacts on display, we gained a deeper understanding of the history and spirit of the Shaoshan Irrigation District. Construction of the Shaoshan Irrigation District began in July 1965. At that time, a workforce of 100,000 laborers, driven by the bold spirit of “Just as Yu Gong had the determination to move mountains, we have the resolve to tunnel through them,” persevered for ten months and ultimately brought forth a miracle in hydraulic engineering construction. The canal structures, pedestrian bridges, and convenient docks—each weathered by countless storms yet standing silently and steadfastly—and the irrigation district workers who have remained committed to their posts despite all challenges and have long been rooted here—these all embody the spirit of the irrigation district and vividly showcase its soul.
In front of the Shaoshan Irrigation District Memorial Hall, Zhou Miqun, Vice Chairman of the company’s trade union, and Tang Miao, Director of the Women Workers’ Committee, presented certificates and trophies to Yan Yongmei, who was awarded “The Most Beautiful Female Employee of Xiangtan City,” and Dai Jia, who was honored as “Furong Hundred-Post Star of Xiangtan City.” Through this hiking event, all female worker representatives from the company expressed their commitment to earnestly studying the spirit of the Shaoshan Irrigation District, fully leveraging the pivotal role of female employees in their future work, carrying forward the glorious traditions of the revolution, working even harder, showcasing the remarkable style of women, and contributing their own strength to the company’s leapfrog development.
